Vale Neil HANDSLEY
- Former 3SQN Assn QLD President. -

Died 19 October 2020.  Aged 87 years.


In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Neil was a “Sumpie” with 3 Squadron, working on Sabres at the Butterworth RAAF Base.  Our website features his “Sabre Memories”. 

Among Neil’s many 3SQN achievements, he once "hitched” around the world on an incredible variety of military transports!  Neil also did a great job as “Anchorman” for the 3 Squadron History DVD

Neil himself reflected: “Looking back on these events after all these years, one remembers them with much nostalgia and considerable pleasure at being part of interesting and important happenings in the history of that noble institution....

Current 3SQN Association QLD President, Mal JAMIESON says:
 Neil was a gentleman in every sense, and largely responsible for the survival of our QLD Association when membership numbers were extremely low.  
- Our condolences go out to all his family and friends.

Neil passed away peacefully on Monday 19th October 2020.  Beloved husband of June.  Cherished father of Belinda, Alexander and Benjamin.  Loved grandad to James, Ava, Tom and Tahl.  Neil will be especially missed by his twin brother, Allan. 
Neil’s Funeral was held Friday October 30th at Redcliffe, Qld.
